MERIT is supported by the ICE, CIOB and CITB.
The winners received a Silver Salver from and a cash prize of £2500,the runners up a cash prize of £1000. The prize fund for 2017 stands at £5000.
The top six competed with 120 teams during the online phase to qualify for the Final
Registration for MERIT 2017, the annual construction business game run with the support of the ICE, CIOB and CIB for the 27th time opens in October 2016. A large and international participation is in prospect.
MERIT is well established in developing skills and knowledge in company and financial management together with leadership and disciplined decision making preparing participants for future senior roles.
Teams can express an interest on www.MERITgame.com and register when registration is open. Teams who do not have the full details to register such as a full list of team members or a Purchase Order can use the pre-registration facility on the web-site and complete the rest of their details when available.
3) CIOB Global Student Challenge 2016
The winners of the CIOB’s Global Student Challenge were Cali Construction from Glasgow Caledonian University.
This is the second consecutive year that a team from GCU have won the Global Student Challenge and given the strength of the competition this is remarkable.
The CIOB held the Final of the Global Student Challenge in the Grand Hyatt Hotel Hong Kong at the same time as the CIOB’s Member’s Forum giving the Finalists great opportunities to interact with many experienced members of our industry which they took to full advantage.
The teams that qualified for the Final, an experience that can be described as a great prize in itself were:

Qualification was earned by competing online over six weeks in a long established construction based business game MERIT and competitors were drawn from a global spread of Universities and the top six were invited by the CIOB to the Final which is run over two days.
The winners were awarded the Crane award and will receive mentoring to assist their careers and the development of ‘tomorrow’s leaders’.
Registration for the 2018 Global Student Challenge will begin in October with the online phase running over March and April 2017 with the Final being planned for July 2017 again in Hong Kong.
